Ok see my previous post if you want to know what I did prior to this. Bascically I followed the instructions at
http://gtk.php.net/manual/en/tutorials.installation.windows.php
Literally this paragraph
| Quote: | You will need a copy of php.exe (CLI Version) and php5ts.dll, both of which are available in the binary release of PHP 5 for windows, and put them in the php-gtk directory. If you wish to use any other extensions with this copy of php.exe, make sure you put their binaries here too.
After this, you must set your PATH variable to include the gtk+2.6.9 directory present in the release. You can also let the gtkpath.bat batch file set the appropriate PATH for the current command line session by executing it.
|
Well I tried to run the hello world example from here:
http://gtk.php.net/manual/en/tutorials.helloworld.php
And nothing happened. I just got a blank console/cmd box with a blinking cursor not matter if I clicked on the copy and pasted file or if I started the cmd box first and entered HelloWorld.phw, which is what I named the file
Ok thinking that maybe I installed things wrongly or did not follow the instruction on the php-gtk install page I deleted the whole php-gtk directory.
I think came to gnope.org and downloaded your precompliled windows installer version from this page:
http://www.gnope.org/download.php
I followed the instructions and installed everything into MyProjects\php-gtk.
Ok now I have a program group in the start menu for php Gtk2 with 5 submenu items. I also have a desktop icon named "PHP-GTk2 Applications" with a red circular icon.
When I click on that icon on the desktop NOTHING HAPPENS
when I click on the two similar icons in the start menu NOTHING HAPPENS.
Ok what give guys. I mean this whole language is not newbie friendly and I thought perl was hard. At least with that I got SOME kind of output even if it was an error message. |

| This must be a REALLY low volume list. I am looking at the dates on some of the post in this and the other forums, the newest post, and some of them are like from last July. I am going to leave this here and look around the net for some other places to ask php-gtk questions. I am not complaining. I know its only been 34 hours since I asked but looking around here it seems that no one pays attention to this forum or the whole list. |

Yes I thought of that. And I may do it. But I hate mailing list. They are an invitation to spam. |

| Not moderated ones. And I *really* had spam problems in this forum before I added some non-default registration fields. |

thank cweiske not to be ungrateful, but the real reason I hate mailing is all that damn mail in my inbox. That is really why I prefer a web based forum. But one has to do what one has to do. Maybe they have a daily digest. |
