... for PHP-GTK2 stable release.
I remember when I first caught word of PHP-GTK about a year ago. Ever since I could not wait for PHP-GTK2. I've been developing the code to a program for over 4 months now, and am waiting for PHP-GTK2 to begin to finalize before I begin the visual interface... I can't exactly announce what it is, or what it is called for that matter, but I can assure you it will be worth the wait.
Personally, I am using Linux and am having troubles with GTK2 -- I cannot seem to get ANYTHING to compile against it. I think I may have accidentally compiled a new version over an RPM. Which, to my understanding, can be a nightmare.
Anyway... introduction.
My name is Cory Christison.
I am a youngin' [17 years of age] from Canada and have been developing PHP web/cli/ncurses programs for just about 5 years now. |

You actually can start developing the GUI - what prevents you from doing it? Large parts of the API are already usable, and so you should be able to implement most of you GUI.

What distribution are you using?
It seems to me as if you installed the header files in the wrong place and so no other program finds them - but that's just a guess as I haven't seen any of the error messages.
You're welcome to try out php-gtk2 - just get php 5.1.1 and get the latest php-gtk2 version from cvs - instructions on how to compile are in the wiki. |

I am mostly worried about things being snipped or changed in the final release of PHP-GTK2.

SuSE 9.1 -- I installed this about a year and a half ago and have been stuck with it, as I run a small web server off of it containing some of my websites [blog, etc.] I am actually in the process of building a new, more powerful, dedicated, solid, more secure server. I am just missing the processor(Opteron 148) After I get it up and running, I am transfering everything over and wiping this machine out and I plan to install gentoo or I might decide to play around with Free/OpenBSD. |

Cory,
if you are on SuSE 9.1 Professional, as I am, you simply have to say, that this distribution is outdated! I run my development server (64bit) on it and it is time to update for me soon.
if you play around a lot and want to stay on head of the curve, the 9.1 is wrong. It is surely a stable business platform, be the wrong development start (IMHO, but I love to get lost on newest technology anyhow) ... everything is one version behind (php, mysql, perl modules, etc)
If you start to develop your apps now, you can be sure, that most of your code will work. Nobody in the community wants to change 50% of the approach a few weeks prior to release!

I am using SuSE 9.1 non-Pro(free). I installed it as a system to learn and explore Linux on. Now I am much more advanced with it and I've been compiling everything for a while now.(apache, php 4 & 5, mysql, postgresql, XFCE, WINE, etc..) I've just been having troubles with GTK2 [GTK1 seems to be fine though]

I suppose... but these problems with GTK2 is really holding me back. I can always load up vmware and boot up Windows XP, download and install Gnope and go hard at it.
However, I really don't like to use Windows. Only when I absolutely have to (ex: guiding a friend through a problem over the phone) |

I can throw in an extra vote for the want of a php-gtk2 package for debian too.
Had no probs with compiling php-5.1.1 + php-gtk2-cvs. Followed the php-gtk2 wiki unix install instructions, except with php-5.1.1 instead of php-cvs. Very straight forward

Debian testing | php-5.11 | php-gtk2-cvs |
