Hello all,

I'm about to begin development of Gnope 1.1.
The planned features are:
- New php-gtk2.dll with lots of bug fixes and new implemented methods
- Installation of localization information, so that Gtk stock buttons will be in italian on an italian system
- Gnope AppRunner will have categories

Do you have any wishes? Something in the installer could be optimized, or is something missing from your point of view?

Does this one get the new GtkTreeModel functionality noted on the mailing list?

Yes. The updated php-gtk2.dll will give you all the cool new things.

will the pear package installer have the ability to discover other pear-channels?

Or is this included within "Gnope AppRunner will have categories"?

I will include that. And no, it wasn't covered with the AppRunnner notice.

SWEET! I cant wait to see it! Christian, maybe the Gnope package should have an uploader as well, where you can pick a TGZ archive and publish it, if you are registered on the system? I would make life much easier for all of us!

A seperate "Publication" package, where you enter your username and PW and you can update your packages on the PEAR server? Just "publish", "update" and "delete" and an options button "username & passwort" with a link to the registration page.

We may could take the Forums database?

Just an idea!

What about the Macs?

DUDE! (Sorry... just saw that movie recently. Couldn't help it. Laughing )

I too would love to see a Mac version. Our boss at work is trying to move everything away from Microsoft and towards Mac.

In addition to creating your own category in AppRunner, I would like to be able to specify that category as the default selection when the application starts.

Thanks again for all your work and willingness to help. I think Gnope has really vaulted PHP-Gtk2 forward!

It would be nice if eAccelerator is included in Gnope, because Windows users cannot compile it without Visual C++ which is not free.

The VC++ compiler (command-line version) is available as a free download from Microsoft.

See this page for details:

Thanks. I downloaded VIsual C++ 2005 express and the platform sdk, but it won't compile (saying something that an array is not allowed to have 0 elements). What did i wrong?

[p.s.: bindlib compiled without problems]

hi christian,

i have spent last week some time with 2 php developpers, who work in a larger company and they really like the gnope "all-in-1-package" approach, but with both the installation failed, both had some version of PHP already installed on windows.

i think to keep gnope a smooth experience, one of the major requirements of the new version is:

create a complete indepedant package including a PHP version, that uses its OWN config file and its OWN library directory, so we can all install the package parallel to existing PHP installations.

i think that should be possible by forcing the including PHP version to look in an own subdirectory for everything?

By the way: do you need anything to finish the new gnope faster? let me know!

A little late maybe, but any form of HTML rendering would be great. Gkthtml or gtkmozembed for instance. Thanks,

Kees

Hi Christien,

How about an "update" option for those of us who already have Gnope 1.0 installed? Coupled with Puzzler's request for independant PHP versions for Gnope, this may be more than you want to deal with, but I'm putting in my request. Smile

Perhaps you already had this planned anyway.

Ron,

You will probably have noted that there is a php-gtk2.dll package now - this is one of the things that will make it more easy to upgrade automatically. Other than new versions of PHP, the dll or the packages won't be in the new version - so upgrading the packages will keep you up to date.
